From planetout.com news

"Giving special treatment to gays [in the college admission
process] and then celebrating their 'perspective' [with
gay-studies programs] sends a signal to high school students
that homosexuality is desirable in and of itself. ...
Americans already hear this message quite a bit: With
television specials, colorful parades and plenty of vocal
celebrity representatives, there's something almost
glamorous about being gay nowadays."

-- Rachel Zabarkes writing in the National Review, Aug. 1.

Somehow, when I trudge inside covered in mud and dead tired from an extended weeding session in the yard, I don't feel very glamorous. Does that mean I'm not gay? I'm so confused...

Intimidation in West Virginia

Read the article here

My first thought was that right-wing groups would oppose an anti-bullying program in school because extreme conservative philosophy supports violence as a mechanism of social control. After reading this article I realized it was intimidation, pure and simple. The so-called West Virginia Family Foundation filed a Freedom of Information Act request to find out the names of students participating in the program, so they can contact the students parents.

Speaking to the Associated Press, West Virginia Family Foundation President Kevin McCoy called the program "nothing short of indoctrination of children to accept the homosexual lifestyle under the guise of safety and tolerance." The Freedom of Information Act request, he said, was a way of checking whether the participating students' parents realized they were involved in the Civil Rights Team.

Can we say "chilling effect"?

And of course if kids accept "the homosexual lifestyle" then they might not grow up to assault or kill other kids like Matthew Shepard. Bigotry kills. Tolerance doesn't. Then why fear tolerance? If your philosophy and way of life is truly viable, it will survive tolerance of others.

These guys scare me. Really.
