Well, a bit after day one actually, but I wanted to report that I haven't written two words yet.

That's about it.

This may be just what I need

And it sounds like horrendous good fun besides! National Novel Writing Month

The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in a month, specifically in the month of November.

The focus is on output - quantity over quality. No endless revision, no compulsive tweaking. Write 175 pages of crap, but write!

So I'm committed. Or should be. And I'm terrified. Let's do the math. I have 30 days. If I give myself five days to plot and outline, and five days at then end for editing, that leaves me 20 days to write 50,000 words. That's 2500 words per day. If I do 3000 words per day I can take a day off every now and then. eeep!

Here's what motivates me: "Art for art's sake does wonderful things to you. It makes you laugh. It makes you cry. It makes you want to take naps and go places wearing funny pants." Yes! I finally have an excuse!
